Below is a pretty good comparison chart for basic features, but actually using the two is different. I've only commented on situations that are different, if I think the phones compare I did not comment.

Camera: The droid has an 8MP camera vs the iPhone's 5MP camera, but the iphone's camera still seems to take better images during a side by comparison. The Droid's images seem a little grainy in indoor lighting and when zooming/panning through images the Droid takes longer to render after a zoom/move whereas the iPhone seems to render on the fly and provides a much smoother experience.

Corporate Email: typing is one situation the Droid is ok at when regarding it's touch screen, so typing and replying to an email is not that bad, BUT when sending and receiving email the droid takes 10 to 15 seconds to receive a new email even when being send from the Droid itself. The iPhone receives email almost instantaneously. Also in the few hours i have been testing email, I have had email not come through at all and per suggestion of forums, I soft powered off the droid and started it back up. The email all flowed in. I have never in 3 years needed to turn off my phone to resolve an email issue, in fact I don't think I have ever had an email issue with my iPhone.

Video: I was impressed with the wide array of video formats that the droid supported(though it did not support the audio on many of my video files), perhaps this would be improved with a better video player or video codecs if available from the droid app store. I was not impressed by the fact that the video player did not remember where you were at in the movie if you paused and let the phone's screen go to sleep. The videos are left just where you paused them on the iPhone. When playing a movie that is playable on both phones, the iPhone's retina display definitely looks better(even if physically smaller) and the built-in speakers on the iPhone blow away the speakers of the droid X.

Music: I do like that I can drag and drop music/audio files onto the droid X as if a USB external drive. I do not like the motorolla/verizon pile of crap software they try to push you to use to be able to put music/movies/pictures onto your phone. It is trying hard to be like iTunes and failing miserably. When playing music on the iPhone it is easy to pause, next song, previous song, etc without having to give much attention to the phone, the Droid is not as smooth of audio controls. Again like in the Movie comparison above, speakers on the iPhone blow away the droid's, so if playing music or movies for a group(not using headphones or external speakers) the iPhone is much better.

Ease of use: The iPhone's layout is much easier to figure out and get used to. I am sure even a typical not techie mother(or fumbling executive) can pick up the iPhone and be comfortable using it within a couple days. The droid does not seem to be very intuitive, has a lot of side pages space wasted with news feeds and social networking update areas basically having things open from the get-go that most people really don't care about. I know many people with the droid X and comparables that have had their devices for months and still barely know how to use them.

Overall Experience: If I didn't have the option of an iPhone, I think given time I would be happy with my Droid. The abilities to play all formats of videos, install many games that I didn't pay for including NES and SNES emulators, and the use of flash websites are definite advantages over the iPhone, but none of these are advantages in the work/productivity arena. Given that I live off the email of my phone, listen to the music off my phone, and have nearly had my iPhone replace my point and shoot camera, I am glad I have my iPhone and not a droid.
